There is no catch. Passless was built by ModSquad (a 20-year-old company) for their own clients and internal operations. It was not built to be sold. Built because nothing else was accessible enough. When it worked in production across thousands of users, ModSquad made it available to everyone. Passless is not a freemium trial, not a loss-leader, and not a bait-and-switch. It is free because the infrastructure already exists and the cost of giving it away is low. The business model for ModSquad is services, not software licenses. Passless is community-first: the more organizations that use it, the more the platform is validated. That is why it is free and why it will stay free.

Is Passless actually SOC2 certified, and what does that mean for my organization?

Yes - Passless is SOC2 Type II certified, which means it has been independently audited against security, availability, and confidentiality standards. This is unusually rigorous for a free product.
